Updated based on information received from David Benedict.
playing this currently, 1995 version in Cocoa Village Florida. the reed four also has tenor sax.
amazingly enough, in community theater with minimal pay for musicians, were are playing everything in each book except for bass sax.
Updated. Thank you!
The pennywhistle in reed 3 is in the key of C. It is 8 bars in #8-Mr. Fezziwig’s Annual Christmas Ball.
This is the current rental version. I just finished a three week run.
A note of caution, the piano/conductor scores are marked 1997 while the instrumental parts are marked 1995. There are photocopied cuts and revisions in the instrumental parts so they are a bit of a mess. We spent a lot of time in rehearsals lining up measures.
Updated to reflect this. Further conversation with Scott clarifies that the pennywhistle is written at concert pitch and in C major.
“Bit of a mess” is an understatement! Both in terms of the handwriting/copying quality and of the cuts and measure number discrepancies…
Peter Hilliard’s Rough Guide was absolutely invaluable to me in terms of helping get those parts straight as quickly as possible. I would recommend it (and the whole series) most highly.
