It’s a pretty bassoon-heavy book, and it isn’t doubled staved. There’s some technical parts on clarinet and a decent amount of bass clarinet, and not very much bari.
I think the MTI listing is correct; it should be just a live string quartet (2 violins, viola, cello) with the bass and the section string sounds covered in the keyboard books.
For the (Berlin) 1999 German version, “Der Glöckner von Notre Dame”, the reeds were:
1. Flute, Piccolo
2. Oboe, English Horn
3. Clarinet, Alto Saxophone, Flute, EWI (Electronic Wind Instrument)
4. Clarinet, Bass Clarinet, Tenor Saxophone, Oboe, English Horn
5. Clarinet, Baritone Saxophone, Bassoon
Posting here about the recent West End Concert at the Prince Edward Theatre, which (according to the photos/videos of the curtain call that put emphasis on the onstage orchestra) has(in addition to the larger string section and added double bass) expanded the number of Woodwinds players from three to four.
Can anyone with info on that concert’s orchestra confirm what the woodwind doubling has been changed to with this added fourth member?
Added based on comment left by Tom Kmiecik.
The Reed 3 book calls for low A baritone and low C bass clarinet, and there is one low B for flute in Reed 1.
Updated. Thanks!
How much bassoon is in the Reed 3 book? Is it double staved?

Thanks for your reply!
The MTI orchestration list does not mention String Bass. Correct that none is needed to be hired?

The orchestrator talks a little bit about why there’s no bass in this article: http://animatedviews.com/2016/the-hunchback-of-notre-dame-studio-cast-recording-two-michaels-for-one-interview/

Added 1999 Berlin production as a new listing. Thanks!
