  1. Updated per information received from Tom Murray, reed player in the Broadway production

  2. Syd Polk says:

This information is accurate. Note that the Reed 2 book says that it requires tenor sax on the cover and on the first page, but there is no tenor in the book.

The bass clarinet part has quite a few low D’s in it. In our current production at Zilker Hillside Theater in Austin, I play the first page on bari instead of bass clarinet because it is supposed to be loud and it has a low D, which translates to low A on bari.

  3. David Benedict says:

The MTI Europe rental has no reed parts.

    • Bret Pimentel says:

The websites for MTI and MTI Europe both list two versions of this show: an “Original Off-Broadway Version (1982)” with no reed books, and a “Broadway Version (2003)” with reed books as shown here. I’m tagging this one as an “alternate orchestration” and adding the off-Broadway as a new listing.
