Does anyone know who extensive the picc part is for this show?
Answered my own question at rehearsal…not that much 🙂
In the Reed 4 and Reed 5 parts, the bass clarinet sections do not go any lower than an Eb (so a low C bass is not necessary).
There is also a 2009 London version, which just has two reeds:
1) piccolo, flute, clarinet, alto sax
2) flute, clarinet, bass clarinet, baritone sax
Reed 2 bass clarinet only goes to low Eb and bari to low Bb, so no extensions are needed.
Added. Thank you!
Would anyone be able to comment on the approximate balance of clarinet/bassoon/bari on Reed 5? (taking out the optional bass clarinet)
