Updated per information received from Brian Blauch
There are some important parts in both the optional alto and tenor books that aren’t in Reed 1 or 2.
Was this the new tour version of the “direct from Broadway” Cabaret.
What city did Blaise’s comment come from?
I assume they are only hiring the 1&2 Reed books not optional?

I am referring to this version.
It was put up at a community theater in Maine at the end of last month. I was the only reed player and played things out of Reeds 1 and 2 and the optional alto and tenor books. My understanding is that the optional parts were for actors on stage to play when possible.
Playing now in Cleveland. Same as above. Covering parts from four books.
Got my answer 2016 tour all actor musicians. No locals hired.
In the Tams-Whitmark Rental version (https://tamswitmark.com/shows/cabaret-1998-version/) the optional part is Tenor Sax and Clarinet, not just Tenor Sax.
